Who we are
Project Bluecollar is run by Schalk Pieter van Staden, a sole proprietor based in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa. We follow the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA) and the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002.
Information Officer: Schalk Pieter van Staden · [email protected] · 061 593 9447
1. Information we collect
When you visit the site, fill in our enquiry form, ask for a quote, or contact us by email, phone or WhatsApp:
- Contact details: your name, business name, phone number, email address and business address.
- Service details: your trade, service areas, branding, logos, photos and other files you send us to build your website.
- Technical data: IP address, browser and device type. If you accept cookies, the Meta Pixel also records the pages you visit here (see Cookies).
2. How we use it
- To answer your enquiries and send quotes.
- To build, host and maintain your website, Google Business Profile and local SEO.
- To send invoices and manage payments (we use Zoho Books for invoicing).
- To tell you about important updates to your service or account.
- To keep the records SARS requires.
3. Who we share it with
We never sell, rent or trade your information. We only share it with service providers we need to do the work, and they must keep it confidential:
- Hosting and software: domain registrars, web hosts, Zoho (invoicing), and our email provider.
- WhatsApp (Meta): when you message us on WhatsApp, or send our enquiry form, which opens WhatsApp with your message.
- Advertising: Meta (Facebook and Instagram), only if you accept cookies.
- The law: when South African law requires it, for example SARS.
Some of these providers store data outside South Africa. We only use providers bound by data-protection rules that give protection comparable to POPIA.
4. Keeping it safe and how long we keep it
We use reasonable technical and organisational safeguards: secure, encrypted systems, strong passwords and two-step login where available. We keep enquiry information for up to 2 years if you don't become a client, client records for as long as we work together, and invoices and payment records for 5 years for tax purposes. After that we delete them.
5. Cookies and the Meta Pixel
This website only sets advertising cookies if you click Accept on the cookie banner.
- Meta Pixel (only with your consent): tells Meta that you visited our pages, so we can see which of our Facebook and Instagram ads work and show you relevant Project Bluecollar ads. Meta may link this to your Facebook account if you're logged in. Meta's own policy: facebook.com/privacy/policy.
- Your choice: we remember whether you accepted or declined in your browser for 12 months. This stays on your device and isn't a tracking cookie.
- Fonts and icons load from Google Fonts and Cloudflare's library, which see your IP address like any website does, but set no cookies.
Change your cookie choice. You can also block cookies in your browser settings, or manage ad settings in your Facebook account.
6. Your rights
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to how we use it, or withdraw your consent. Email [email protected]; we'll reply within 30 days. If you're unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Regulator: inforegulator.org.za.
7. BlueManager
Our BlueManager job-management software has its own Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
